Forced subs for standard DVD's.
I have searched thru all of the topics of the forum only to find out that whenever someone is reffering to the latest greatest update allowing us to extract only forced subtitle streams, they are talking about BlueRay and not Standard definition DVD's. I did not know if this feature is active on standard DVD's as I have attempted to burn several (about 125 movies) with the latest update and have not found 1 single "forced" subtitle stream. Several of the movies I have burned are forced subtitled movies ie: 2012, Kill Bill, and all of the Star Wars. Your advice on the matter will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi!
You can use DVDSubEdit to easily identify (and save) true forced subtitles on your DVDs...

Thanks for your repaly.I have used DVDsubedit and it only proved to be a pain in my a$$. I am currently using Subrip, editing the srt. file in notepad to only include the forced subs, then playing them on my wdlive player. The only problem is that it can become a lengthy process. So i take it that the "forced subtitle extraction" option is only available with bluerays? Thanks again.

Re: Forced subs for standard DVD's.
I have a similar question. What I really want is not the *.srt file exactly as much as getting the forced subtitles "burned in" to the video so they are their when I make a single file DVR-MS or MPEG or WTV file to play back on my media center extenders. I would like to keep the main title of each DVD in standard mpeg2 format with the AC3 audio in multi-channel format (where possible) and then just burn the forced subtitles for non-english sections of english movies. I know some movies are already burned in, but many are also just set so they will force the subtitle on the screen during the foreign language section by using the default settings of the DVD player. These subtitles are almost always going to be there no matter how you watch them unless you manually disable all subtitles during playback. I would like they permanently in the file so that once I convert it over to my final format (mpeg2 format video, AC3 audio, and a container that media center extenders play nice with like DVR-MS or AVI or WTV or just plain MPEG files). I have gotten close to what I want to achieve with programs like videoredo, but it doesn't do anything for me on the forced subtitles, AFAIK. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
