Reinstalling pay version after wiping OS

Post by rtman »

Hello,

My computer is constantly crashing and I want to do a clean install of Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. I only use this as an HTPC, so the main thing I don't want to lose is MakeMKV, especially since I have the pay version.

If I do a clean install, how will I be able to reinstall the pay version of MakeMKV? When I bought the license I don't recall ever getting any type of key or anything.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes, you got a key, in an email from (most likely) "Avangate Customer Service <customer@avangate.com>" with the activation key.

If you used PayPal to pay, it came to the address associated with your PayPal account, otherwise to the email address you gave when you paid.

Thanks for the response. I bought the program at least 3-4 years ago, so any email is long gone at this point. I did notice that if I go over to "Help", and then select "Register", it pre-populates the "Enter Registration Code" field with a really long code. This seems to be it, but now I'm wondering if it will take the code again if I wipe the OS and reinstall MakeMKV? If it were to work, what would prevent someone from buying one code and sharing it with a bunch of people? I'm afraid the code might be one use only. Is there any way to actually talk to someone at MakeMKV or the company you pay to confirm this? Thanks again for your help.

Send an email to support@makemkv.com so that Mike can dig out the details. If you are no longer using the email address that was originally used, make sure to mention it in your email.
