I upgraded to Windows 10 and now Makemkv fails to open dvd discs. I saw some other posts here about this but I didn't find any solution.
Has a solution been found? Can someone please advise me on what to do?
Thank you,
Linda
Windows 10 and Makemkv
Re: Windows 10 and Makemkv
The problem is usually the antivirus that comes with Windows. You need to exclude the MakeMKV executable files from it. This is also true of a copy of third-party antivirus products.
Most A/V programs have no issue with MakeMKV - but two or three do. In the case of one of them, it is probably MakeMKV's checking for updates that triggers a generic warning.

Re: Windows 10 and Makemkv
When I settings, update & security, windows defender all the settings are greyed out. For example "real-time protection" says "on" but it is greyed out. I can't change it or click on it. Same for "cloud-based" and "sample submission" Under "exclusions" is says "add an exclusion". This takes me to another page but all the options are greyed out here too. I can't add an exclusion but it doesn't appear Windows defender is even on.
I do you Avast AntiVirus free and have for years. If this is the problem is a new one and a weird coincidence.
TY,
Linda

Re: Windows 10 and Makemkv
Ok...well I feel stupid but thought I checked to see if I had the most recent version of Makemkv but I did not. I installed the recent version and that fixed my problem. Sorry!
