Which version? Retail? Red Box Rental? Many times they are different.

EDIT: I did a search and saw both 677 and 611 listed as "valid" in the same topic thread elsewhere.

This movie uses a cashed protection screen pass. The new screen pass will tell process monitor to call a fake mpls file then copy the good one to a cashed folder in the buda folder with a key. Follow the link in process monitor to find the correct masked mpls. To find the actual disk mpls from the masked you have to byte btye search them using alldup. This is all covered in my home theater playlist section. The original video I posted was bluray playlist obfuscation revealed and now I've released cashed protection screen pass and actual disk mpls extraction. YouTube my name gereral1 and I'll be the first hit on Google. Enjoy my videos. Don't we all hate lions gate for the 1000's of playlist files.

Using your "older" video (bluray playlist obfuscation finally revealed step by step) yielded 611.mpls as well.

Not sure if that is good enough, or if the new method *must* be used. So I will look at that as well...

UPDATE: So I tried this with using MakeMKV to make a "disc backup" to copy the files to my hard drive (video titled Screen pass protection cashe solution without even viewing 1000s of mpls files), but that kept the copy protection. I don't normally use AnyDVD, so I downloaded the demo, but it wont allow demo versions to connect to their update server for the specifics for movies since its last release. I've never used MakeMKV for backup, so I may have missed an option, but it left the copy protection and PowerDVD wouldn't play the files. Instead of digging more into that, I am going to try your latest upload video (Screen pass protection revealing the disk mpls file using the cashe file) since it claims that I don't have to copy everything to the hard drive (per the comments in the 2nd video).
UPDATE2: that latest video is for if you already know your cache file, so I am back to the 2nd video. I can't copy the files it seems without keeping copy protection, so I just ran process monitor and it never caches anything. So I think that the very first method (I called it the "older" video) is correct, and that matches what was already discovered, that 611.mlps seems correct.

Man, I hope that this "cached mpls" thing doesn't catch on because it could be a pain if you have to copy the disc's files for new released that you buy or rent if you are a renter... (or I guess you could buy AnyDVD)

You do not need Slysoft with my videos :) disable it or if you don't have it installed then that's fine. If makemkv removes the protections this is simple. Run the rented or bought movie in powerdvd 14+. This has to be a purchased player ...no warez stuff. Then run process monitor at the movie menu. Monitor mpls of the FBI warning then the DD dts trailer then when the movie plays the the length of the movie shows in powerdvd stop the movie shut down the player. Scoll Through the processes. If screen pass is present one main mpls will show. If screen pass cashed protection is used you WILL SEE the fake mpls be called then the process monitor will call a long code pointing to the cashed powerdvd folder then a long key that points to the buda folder then at the end you will SEE the hidden mpls. In the mpls file is the correct playback order. If you use cashe first video you need some protection removal program to play a movie with removed protections. Use whatever program. If you found the hidden mpls the next video shows you how to compare the file byte by btye to find its match which reveals the disks mpls. Even if you know this if you plan on playing a copy you still need to remove the protections. If you want to keep menu then this will not work. If you want the main movie with the correct chapters and subs and audio my method WILL work PERFECT. Hay guys I've been doing this stuff manually for over 8 years. I laugh when I see users trying to figure out what playlist this movie or that movie needs. The first video I made 8 months ago Hollywood saw and tried to beat my method with this stupid cashed masked file am I'm sure in 8 months it will be another stupid cat and mouse game. But be warned the next time I figure this out I'm not going to let lion gate in on it. Rotty dog and I have developed a free program that finds a blurays mpls file in 2 clicks and also rips apart each mpls in the playlist directory and can manually search through these files byte by byte of through the m2ts Names in each individual mpls file in less that 5 seconds to reveal the playlist file. Even when other major programs out there ( we all know there names) are reporting wrong playlists within seconds we have already played and extracted the movie. We even help those guys reveal playlists before they even know them. I cannot condone other programs on message boards so search my name and you will get more info. Insurgant was beat 10 sec after I got the disk. Catching fire 10 sec. I use mkv for forced subs and its great but do everything manually to prevent compatibility issues with forced subs, truehd, dolbt atmos and on and on. My methods have worked perfect for over 1000 blurays. Anyway I rarely check into these boards so until next time....

Lions gate has moved onto this new protection. The der movies like divergant and catching fire and others use the first movie method. Power DVD will default to a black screen if you try to play a store bought movie with a program running to bypass the protections! If you do remove the protections you can point manually mpc of vlc to the mpls file and the movie will play perfect. If you mount the backuped disk to play powerdvd it will not work because screen pass cannot be removed. Just like civinax it embedded in the java in the load process of the disk that calls the menu for playback. Screen pass checks 3 things. 1. Is the embedded rom mark present on the material? No because a copy cannot copy the mark. It's pressed into the disk. 2. Is the bdmv file structure modified. Yes because third party programs create a backup folder and change the original bdmv folder to allow copying to a hard drive for backup. 3. Does the movie play in a license player. No because mpc vlc or powerdvd copy is not purchased the mpls movie will go to a black screen and stop. If the protection is removed and to disk copied you need to use any program to point to the mpls and extract the movie from that crappy java disk and rebuild it. Do do some research on the tools here on how to do this as I'm not mentioning any because I refuse to mention links or other products;)

By the way I do rent to and understand the delima of the short time to find the disks mpls before returning . The catch 22 is if you copy it and return the disk you will be screwed trying to find the mpls because copies will always default to screen pass . That's why you rent the movie and run the disk and write down the mpls for later when you have time to extract the movie from the copy to stream in your home. I own insurgant and do not condone copying movies you do not own but believe we have a right to backup and stream our movies in our home. Hell I payed them. With this stupid copywriter policy you cannot backup your own bought disk whick is bull but in the copywriter law it does say you are allowed to stream the video in your home but its against the law when the stream content leaves your personal residence. I stream from my cloud server to my cell. I own these movies and they can blow me. I'll show them all my receipts. What a joke.

I used the method which involves making a decrypted backup then watching the segments stitched together based on the possible combinations (makemkvcon -r) and got to the same result for RedBox.

Code: Select all

Title information
Name: The Age of Adaline
Source file name: 00611.mpls
Duration: 1:52:29
Chapters count: 16
Size: 20.3 GB
Segment count: 20
Segment map: 509,510,505,525,508,507,521,506,522,512,513,523,503,520,511,519,504,524,501,502
File name: The_Age_of_Adaline_t175.mkv
Compared to Hunger Games and Insurgent this disc you only had to make 3 or so decisions before there was only one option left. The segment transitions were also more obvious for this movie.

I'm confused, my playlist 611 does not have the order shown in previous posts, in fact none of the playlists have 510 as the 2nd segment.

Am I missing something?
