Ex Machina and DTS:X

There is no option for copying DTS:X from the Bluray (no surprise), just DTS-HD MA. Anything needed to help add this to the next version? Happy to help since I just got mine from Amazon.

Does the track show up at all?

I don't think it would be filtering the DTS:X components from the MA track if it's listed, it just wouldn't be describing it at DTS:X because it's not programmed to tell the difference.

I'm pretty sure the second point is trying to say DTS:X is just an extension of DTS-HD.

I would suspect it might operate similar to Dolby Atmos where the stream is there but it presents the DTS-HD MA track as default. Would be nice to future proof my rip for when there are more receivers out that support it. I currently do not own one, but it would be interesting to hear from someone that does if DTS:X is in the stream or not...

Do a full backup, look at the files using mediainfo and see if there's anything in there that hints at another audio stream.

All those debug messages are proof enough that Mike needs to look into this properly, though.

It would be interesting to know if MakeMKV actually filters DTS-HD streams, I guess it would depend on how the stream itself is laid out.

I can tell you that both BDInfo and my player read the DTS: X track as having a DTS-HD MA 7.1 core, while the mix identified in the menu as "Theatrical" is in fact a lossy DTS 5.1 track.

Although if MakeMKV is just skipping a DTS:X track it's possible BDInfo would do the same thing.

MediaInfo should list "unknown" tracks as "menu" I think, but it does look like DTS, DTS-HD and DTS:X are one and the same.

You could try extracting the stream using both MKVExtract and TSMuxer and see if there's any significant size differences.
