Why must we always be told that the program is outdated and that we must update it, when it worked just fine.
I don't know about many of you here, but I am strapped into a wheelchair and have to use voice recognition software to do anything on a computer. It can take me the best part of an afternoon removing one version of a program and installing an updated one.
Is there some way to not have to do the silly updates?
Thank you

Re: Chronic Update Fatigue Syndrome
The "silly updates", for most of us, are necessary. Version 1.9.4 was issued a few weeks ago... and there are are already Bluray disks in circulation that revoke the key it uses for accessing Bluray disks, which make the DRIVE useless for BD ripping, until the next "silly update".
If you're only working with DVDs, you would rarely need to update. And you have unusual circumstances to deal with, granted.
You COULD tell MakeMKV not to check internet for updates; it's in the preferences menu. I'm not sure if it will stop it from reporting "old version" for non-registered copies, but it will speed up starting the program, because it won't have to access the website to see whether or not there is a new version.

Re: Chronic Update Fatigue Syndrome
Maybe an option to automate it would be useful, I tend to update straight away and I don't recall ever selecting any special options...
In fact I'd probably want to use that too.
The only possible downside is if the new version introduced a new bug... but all you'd need is access to the previous version of MakeMKVCon for backward compatibility.
NotePad++ just asks and then finishes the job itself. Norton keeps itself up to date and I don't have to do anything at all. I'm pretty sure Office 365 works the same way, and Windows will update itself automatically if you tell it to.
It's the way of the future.

Re: Chronic Update Fatigue Syndrome
as Woodstock clearly took umbrage at my comment, he also did not read what I said. "I am strapped into a wheelchair and have to use voice recognition software to do anything on a computer. It can take me the best part of an afternoon removing one version of a program and installing an updated one."
thanks ndjamena, but I cannot accomplish that either.

Umbrage not taken - life's too busy to become irritated by small things, and your comments weren't even a minor irritant on my thick head, er, skin. Yes, that's the phrase, "thick skin"...
MakeMKV won't ask about updates if you have a permanent license. If you allow it to check for updates, it will remind you they exist when you start the program, but it's not going to tell you the version is "too old"... At least, the 2-year-old version I have on another computer doesn't do it. It doesn't have a Bluray drive, so it doesn't need updates.
If you are using the beta key, yes, it's going to complain about the old version.
Whether or not Mike feels a need to change this, I cannot say. It's his program.
