Moderator approval

#1 Post by RichardC » Wed Apr 15, 2015 9:05 am

Where can I find the forum rules to find out which posts will be allowed immediately, and which will be embargoed until they have been approved by a moderator? When I first joined the forum I replied to some posts, and that did not seem to cause a problem. It was only when I tried to start a new topic that I ran into difficulty. I did wonder whether I was not allowed to start a new topic as a new member, but I then found that a new topic with a short post was accepted. Is there a limit on the length of posts beyond which moderator approval is needed? Is it that posts which include output from MakeMKV have lines repeated or are similar to previous lines and are being flagged by the software as spam?

Also, once a post has been approved, is it really necessary to remove it and submit it to the approval process all over again if a small edit is made to it?

If the post contains a link to a site outside of makemkv.com, it will PROBABLY trip the requirement for moderator approval. This limits the number of posts we see for fake **Unwanted Spam** shoes, fake Rolex watches, and even counterfeit currency.

ALL of us are subject to it, even if we've been here for years... it isn't a new-vs.-old user thing.

Assuming the links that you put in the message are harmless (not spam or whatever), they'll just appear. And since Mike is the moderator, it means he WILL read the message.

Thanks for the explanation. I had to think quite hard because I didn't think I had included any external links. Then I remembered I had included MakeMKV output in both posts and when it told me the region codes did not match it included a link to the site which (I think) explains how to set a drive's region code. What was really frustrating was that when the posts had been approved I edited them, and that set off the approval process all over again.
