The source file is corrupt or invalid....how long do i wait?

#1 Post by MrVanx » Mon Mar 23, 2015 10:09 pm

Hello all,

Im backing up a blu-ray at the moment and upto around 18GB in the drive works nice and fast (around 21MB/s) until the drive stops and the familiar messages begin to show:
....001003:0020 DEBUG: Code 0 at jTMn=P#A1I&}jsuIcdAC:121262762
tp=ZeNpjYBjaAAAAwAAB
004004:0000 The source file '/BDMV/STREAM/00800.m2ts' is corrupt or invalid at offset 19917133824, attempting to work around
tp=ZeNpjYBi6AAAAvAAB......
I have enabled debug messages and have left the process running for a few hours now and the GUI has stopped responding. The debug .txt file is slowly increasing in size and the hard drive is grinding away in the background.

The debug txt file is around 12MB now and is getting bigger.

Should I call it quits or is it likely the program is making progress but just very slowly (in comparison)??

Best regards, :?:

At this point, you can probably stop the process, and close MakeMKV (to close the log you just created), then rename that log so that it doesn't get overwritten. Zipping it and emailing that to support@makemkv.com should be done, of course, per the FAQ.

Another test would be to open MakeMKV again, and do an "Open" instead of "Backup", saving as MKV files. Given the file name that is being complained about, this is probably a Disney BD, and you're ripping the "English titles" version of the movie. See if either 801 or 802 will rip all the way through.

Not long after I posted the hard drive activity stopped, looking at the log file I figured out it had failed. The GUI and the other process in the background still didnt respond so I closed them with task manager.

Ive sent the log file and the other files mentioned in the FAQ to the email address so hopefully it will be of help.

I installed (as a test) anyDVD and managed to get handbrake to rip it to mkv, however on closer inspection it only ripped 1h12m of the film, I guess it came across the same issue maybe.

the film is a universal one (the big lebowski).

Its only a backup anyways to watch using kodi across a network, no big deal if its a no go but it would be nice to get it done. :)
