mkv file is rotated 90 degrees

I have tried creating mkv files of two different Blu-ray discs and both times the resulting video is rotated 90 degrees. Is there some option I need to set to get this to capture at the correct orientation?

MakeMKV copies the video off of the BD into a file - there is no recoding of it. If the orientation of the video is off in the MKV file, the source is also off.

What are you using for playback software?
