I'm totally new at this so please accept my thanks in advance for reading what is sure to be an eye-rolling question. When ripping, I have a watchable file, but have blue bars above and below the movie. I've read that I can use another program to crop these out, but wanted to first investigate if I'm ripping properly or if there's something I'm doing wrong and can do better. I didn't see a setting that intuitively seemed to address this.
Any advice is deeply appreciated.
Best!
blue bars after ripping?
Re: blue bars after ripping?
I suspect its probably something to do with the software player you're using to watch the movie, the resulting MKV file should not have blue bars instead of the usual black bars unless there is a serious incompatibilty issue with MakeMKV and the disc you've ripped!
So, what software are using to play the file and what movie is it?

Which disc is it?
Have you re-encoded the file with another program?
How large are the blue lines?
MakeMKV directly copies the video streams into an MKV container without alteration.
Having recently discovered what Java is capable of doing to a title I'm wondering if maybe there's supposed to be some sort of overlay covering the top and bottom sections of the video... Or am I overdoing the Java thing?
