R5 DVD with 2 DD 5.1 named English, only tack 1 is shown.

Post by j4gg3r » Sat Nov 01, 2014 9:49 am

I have some Telugu R5 DVD's that have Russian(80) and English(81) DD 5.1 448kbps.
But both tracks are labeled as English on the DVD and only the 1st track is available for selection.

There should be 2 x English DD 5.1 tracks available to select
so I can choose the 2nd one with the English audio.

EDIT:
DGIndex shows both...

Are you trying to say that when you play the DVD in a DVD player, only the Russian audio track is available for listening?

Yet there's a second audio track in the Vob that you want access to?

If there's no Title present on the disc that includes the second audio track then as far as I'm aware MakeMKV won't list it, and I'm not sure it should...

It would have to look for unused Tracks and list them separately.

By default, MakeMKV will only select ONE audio track per language, so you would only get one track. It will also rip the "highest quality" track, which can be a problem in its own right.

Make sure you have enabled "Expert Mode" in the preferences. In the Advanced tab, you will see a "Default selection rule". I use this one to make sure all audio and subtitle tracks are ripped, because I use handbrake to sort them out later:
-sel:all,+sel:(favlang|nolang),-sel:(havemulti|havecore),-sel:mvcvideo,=100:all,-10:favlang
This rule will also select "high definition" tracks your player may not support.

Both tracks are available in MPC and VLC as English 448 AC3 as per usual.

I think MakeMKV is not showing track 81 because it has the same specs as track 80.

If they had different bitrate or titles, I'm sure they would both show up for selection.

That is the default setting.

-sel:all is only showing 1 of the 2 x English 448 tracks...
...this is the problem that needs to be sorted.

It's possible. There are other reports of MakeMKV missing tracks that have similar configurations, and even titles apparently.

Strange... I must have had the default reset on mine when I wasn't looking, and I didn't notice it because my default profile uses:

Code: Select all

-sel:all,+sel:(favlang|nolang),-sel:mvcvideo,=100:all,-10:favlang
In any case, secondary tracks tagged as the same language are normally ignored, so when two languages have the same language tag, it can be a problem.
