MakeMKV not recognizing my Panasonic UJ-120 external drive

Hello, I recently learned about MakeMKV so I purchased this Panasonic UJ-120 external drive:

I'm running OS 10.8.5 on a 3.4GHz i7 iMac. The mac will mount media just fine using this drive but it seems MakeMKV doesn't recognize this optical drive. Below is the log. It doesn't seem to matter if I launch the app before or after I mount the disc. I have the drive plugged directly into the back of the iMac instead of my powered hub. The OS and other apps seem happy with this optical drive but not MakeMKV. Is there anything I can do to make this drive work with MakeMKV?

Your drive returns bogus response to a certain SCSI command and MakeMKV thinks that it is broken. While this is a drive error, this is still probably a bug in MakeMKV.
Do you have access to a windows machine, either in VM or via bootcamp? I have to ask you to run a few tests for troubleshooting. Please reply to support@makemkv.com .
