Hello Everyone,
My apologies if this has been covered before but I'm lost and have been scouring the internet for some clear guidance.
I just recently embarked on the task of backing up my blu ray collection to a local NAS (DROBO 5N). I installed the Makemkv beta version and was able to back up two movies with no issues.
When I access the folders on the NAS, there are several file folders within each movie title (e.g. Backup, Stream, etc.). It appears that the actual video footage is being ripped as M2TS files under the "Stream" folder, which is interesting because I don't recall being given an option as whether to burn to M2TS or MKV. My issue then becomes when I attempt to add the newly backed up blu ray file to XBMC, this is where I'm stuck. Do I need to relabel each video file to prepare them for XBMC scraping process?! I need a step by step ripping/labelling guide to prep the files for XBMC because I'm spending hours trying to figure this out to no avail.
I'd like to be able to watch the bonus features on some movies as well and I have no idea how to figure out which file belongs to what?
I've browsed the net and youtube and all of the walkthroughs seem to show the process of adding video files to XBMC, but I need guidance on the proper way to rip the movies using Makemkv and how to structure the folders and label the files on the NAS so that XBMC will pick them up without any issues.
Thank you in advance for any of your time you devote to trying to help me!! I hope this discussion will help me get on the right path as I contemplate backing up anymore of my blu ray collection.
Take care
Prepping files for XBMC
Re: Prepping files for XBMC
You used the backup feature, which is probably the worst way or ripping a Blu Ray if you want all the little pieces sorted nicely. You needed to click on the big drive button in the middle of the window to rip as MKV.
