Re: DRAFT DAY proper Title selection for Blue Ray Disc
Thank you for your effort in tracking this down. Curious as to how you did it though since all titles had the exact time.
Re: DRAFT DAY proper Title selection for Blue Ray Disc
Also interested in how you figured this one out. If you have a moment it would be greatly appreciated if you would share your method.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: DRAFT DAY proper Title selection for Blue Ray Disc
Decided to finally register to chime in on this one since there's surprisingly very little postings so far on this title, usually you see multiple for padded discs.
At any rate, you guys commenting on this thread may or may not be aware that a lot of movies on disc these days have multiple release versions, 2-3 different releases for DVD and Blu-ray with different padding or in this case: bogus playlists.
It's been ages since I've gone over standard accepted practice for hashing Blu-rays, but I believe aacskeys had folks do an SHA1 hash for the index.bdvm file so that's what's I'm doing here.
For the version I rented from redbox on the West Coast in Canada here the hash is: 600e3853923c531a45c6ca032608aa45d6aefaf0 and the correct playlist is 00914 which MakeMKV shows as title 240 and Segment map: 505,508,502,503,515,507,506,510,513,511,512,509,514,501,504
Since people are asking "How can you possibly know?".. it's not that hard really if you're willing to invest ~30 minutes.
#1 decrypt the disc, since we're using MakeMKV here the easiest way is to backup the entire disc to HDD, that way you can play the individual mts files.
#2 play the movie in an actual player while previewing each of the mts stream segments.. for this particular disc (and many others) that means playing all the ones that have 005xx.m2ts file names. Basically what you're doing here is looking for which segment is the beginning of the movie, then you're seeking to the end of that particular mts stream file to see how it ends so you can find that scene on the disc while watching in a real player.
#3 Jot down the order of the segments ie find where each segments starts and ends to match them up with how a player shows them all to you.
#4 Go through the various playlists and find the one that lists the mts segments in the same order you noted they should be in for proper playback.
#5 Rip that playlist/title.
With only 15 segments it quite literally took me 30 minutes to go through all those steps after having already ripped the disc to HDD. If I'm hashing differently than what's common practice and someone would like it differently let me know and I'll re-do and post.

My 00698.mpls is different than yours from Netflix BD. Can anyone confirm which track to use from Netflix disc?

Re: DRAFT DAY proper Title selection for Blue Ray Disc
The DRAFT DAY rental I ripped was a Netflix Blue Ray. The proper title selection was # 00698.mpls (t135.mkv). Risone01, reference SharDragoon post for procedure. I use a similar method with VLC Player to view segments. As he mentions, determining the segment sequence is key (regardless of how make.mkv lists the File name). Up until this release the duration time could be used to reduce the number of titles to search in order to find the proper segment sequence.
Re: DRAFT DAY proper Title selection for Blue Ray Disc
While I am not new to ripping I am new to this wonderful problem of identical Titles. I've read through this thread and have a question. I've figured out already how to choose the correct playlist out of the disc directory but when it comes time to rip it the program I use brings up title choices which do not coincide with mpls playlist file numbers. Is there a way to translate what playlist number matches what title?

Re: DRAFT DAY proper Title selection for Blue Ray Disc
You're going to have to do a little bit of homework on this disc. Many different versions floating around.
Seems that the correct segment map is:
Segment map: 515,516,513,505,512,502,511,519,510,518,501,503,517,509,507,520,504,514,506,508
But depending on the version of the disc, there may be a different number of titles.

Re: DRAFT DAY proper Title selection for Blue Ray Disc
JackFrost:
Depends on the program you're using, this being MakeMKVs forum you would expect responses based upon what it shows, for instance when you highlight a title after scanning the disc the right hand section will show you Source playlist details, Duration, Chapters, Size, Segment Map and file name based upon the Title number (Disc Volume Name + _txxx.mkv)
Since Handbrake is incredibly popular I'll bother to comment on it as well: They've switched to showing Title Numbers instead of playlist numbers for whatever reason (makes more sense for DVDs I think) so for this Blu-ray of yours post scan you'll want to pull up the log (Tools - Activity Log, scan log tab) that will show you the full breakdown of each title it analyzed and what playlist (numbered mpls) it corresponds to.

Re: DRAFT DAY proper Title selection for Blue Ray Disc
I ended up doing 698 and watched it. Didn't notice anything wrong with it. Would it be very obvious if playlist order is wrong?

Re: DRAFT DAY proper Title selection for Blue Ray Disc
Am late to this movie and recently just saw it. I also have the retail version and can confirm that the above mpls and segment map was correct for me, as well. I checked the chapter time stamps and took note of all the scenes, they all matched up.animal wrote:For the retail version, this is the correct playlist:
