Hi Guys
I have just installed and run what appears to be a simple and great bit of kit. However, having ripped my first DVD to my hard disk, I copied all the files so not to miss anything, but when I play using windows media player (win7), the picture is perfect but no audio.
I have tried everything I can think of and when playing music from iTunes it comes through the speakers just fine
Any suggestions?
Kind regards
Chris

WMP doesn't support MKV natively, so if you can play it at all, you've installed something... It would be nice if you could tell us what it is.
DVD is generally just AC3 or DTS, is it possible you're trying to bitstream the audio to your monitor via HDMI or spdif? It's also possible you just don't have an AC3 codec installed.

Ah, apparently it does now days. I use a codec pack that someone installed on a PC of mine of old and I never bothered changing to another one, but since the last few time I mentioned it's name the posts mysteriously disappeared I'm assuming this forum does like it.
Assuming codecs are the problem:

http://www.videohelp.com/tools/ffdshow
http://www.videohelp.com/tools/LAV-Filters
One of those should work. I'm sure there are other forum members with stronger opinions on which particular one you should use.

Grrr, I can't find any decent information on what codecs come with the different versions of windows.
