read error makemkv, savecopy finds no bad blocks
Hi I tried to copy kickass 2 into a mkv and get a read error every time I try. Cleaning the disc, choosing a different audio track etc. does not help. I can savecopy the blu ray to an iso file (ubuntu 14.04) without a problem and no bad block turn up. Is this normal? Is this some kind of copy protection? When I try to load the iso with makemkv, it says, it needs the aacs keys. What can I do?
Re: read error makemkv, savecopy finds no bad blocks
Some debug log information would be helpful, starting with the rip directly from the disk.

Re: read error makemkv, savecopy finds no bad blocks
The drive says it can't follow the trail of bits on the disk. This can be a hardware issue, but it is often the disk itself, and CAN be a badly-mastered disk.002003:0000 Error 'Scsi error - HARDWARE ERROR:TRACK FOLLOWING ERROR' occurred while reading '/BDMV/STREAM/00023.m2ts' at offset '265027584'
If cleaning and/or waxing the disk doesn't make it readable, you can try reading it in a different drive.

Re: read error makemkv, savecopy finds no bad blocks
Thanks for your answer, I am just a bit curious, that I could read the disk with savecopy without any bad block being reported. I also tried with anydvd hd inside a virtual machine and got a corrupted iso.
Re: read error makemkv, savecopy finds no bad blocks
I am unfamiliar with "savecopy", so I cannot offer any advice about that. Attempts to search Google for it do not come up with a program named that.
However, many programs will ignore errors during reads. BD and DVD players are programmed to give up on bad reads, and move to the next sector. You might see a video glitch, or a "burp" in the audio, but only a large-scale bad area will stop such a program from reading the disk. If such a program encounters a sector or two that can't be read, it will write garbage data out.
Programs like MakeMKV are trying to give you an EXACT copy of the data, so they won't ignore errors. I would guess that running MakeMKV against the ISO you created with this savecopy program will encounter an error when the file that had the read error is processed, because the data would be invalid.
