Direct Blu-ray playback with VLC and subtitle & audio tracks

Post by andifor »

First: direct Blu-ray VLC playback does work. That's cool!

Problem: Audio tracks und Subtitle tracks are only listed as "Track xx". Is there a way to have them in 'clear text' (E.g. English, French)?

Enable 'Expert Mode' in preferences and change the Name element of the track.

-Or-

Use the MMG (MKVMerge GUI) header editor to edit the Track Name element after ripping.

-Or- (if you're feeling ambitious)

Write a batch using MKVPropEdit to automate renaming tracks after ripping.

Thanks, but I'm talking about "direct Blu-ray playback" in VLC. I'm not ripping the Blu-ray.

The same thing happens if I create a backup with MakeMKV and try to play the folder, maybe you should ask at the VLC forum.

VLC is playing the PCM audio in my Iron Man: Armoured adventures Blu Ray as little more than a high pitched screech at the moment too, but that may have something to do with the disc authoring.

-Edit- MediaInfo says the Language metadata is still in the .mpls playlists so it doesn't seem to be related to anything MakeMKV is doing.
