Correct use of seamless branching features

Post by XO2727 »

Hi there!

Maybe it is a newbie question, but if I rip a BD which has seamless branching, where can I find it (and change it) in the mkv file? If I open such file with mkvmergegui, it shows me only one video track. Watched with VLC, nothing seems to happen, if the language is changed.

And if this isn't included in the file, how can I find and rip the correct version in makemkv?

I think you'll find that "seamless branching" isn't put into the MKV file - MakeMKV constructs the track from the branches as it is ripped. To get all of the branches, you would essentially rip the "tracks" for each set of branches.

Thanks.

How do I know, which branches belong to a set? And is it possible to choose a set and tell Makemkv to rip that one into a single file or do I have to put all parts together manually?

Usually, when you select a title in the left window, there are statistics listed for it in the right window of the display. In those is the "segment map" for that version of the video, when you're dealing with seamless branching.

However, you'd need a lot more information to know what segment is which within the title!
