Dear MakeMKV Forum,
I recently installed MakeMKV 1.8.10 on a Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit operating system. Initially, the software met all my expectations as a great DVD ripper. After installing the software, I immediately ripped a copy of my wedding DVD. The ripping process took less than thirty minutes. However, after closing MakeMKV and restarting it a few hours later, I was greeted with the following message, “makemkv.exe – system error. The program can’t start because libmqt.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix the problem.”
I followed the program’s suggestion. I reinstalled MakMKV several times but I still received the same error after initially running the program, closing it and then restarting it again. Many Google queries about the problem stated a possible virus infection as the cause of the system error. I scanned my computer and the “Setup_MakeMKV_v1.8.10” file for viruses but there were no detections. How can I solve this problem?

Re: Libmqt.dll is missing
"something" deletes or corrupts files on your computer it is very likely a virus, or less likely a corrupted files system.
Re: Libmqt.dll is missing
Thank you Mike for your reply. As stated above, I’ve scanned my computer for viruses. It’s clean. As far as my “files system” being corrupted, it’s highly unlikely. Other software completely installs without incident or errors on my computer. Only MakeMKV has given me this problem. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel. A day after I initially posted my question on the forum, I created a solution or workaround. This solution was purely an educated guess but it worked flawlessly. I’m now posting it for those who may be experiencing the same problem.
