General and maybe dumb question RE: "ILLEGAL REQUEST"

Post by tms433 » Wed Feb 17, 2010 5:57 pm

Ok, this program potentially looks like exactly what I'm after. But, I'm unsure whether it's my drive or I'm missing something in setup.. when I try to look at any DVD (haven't tried a BD yet) all I get is this:

Error 'Scsi error - ILLEGAL REQUEST:READ OF SCRAMBLED SECTOR WITHOUT AUTHENTICATION' occured while reading 'DVD+R-DL TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S223C SB00' at offset '1048576'

On every single disc I've tried..

I do have AnyDVDHD that I could install, is that required for this? (I didn't think so, but if I'm wrong, please LMK!)

Thanks!

Is this a fatal error message, in a sense that can you open the disc? Do you get any other messages about DVD region code?

Please see: http://www.makemkv.com/forum2/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=961

Same issue, though it is not fatal.

I have noticed that makeMKV v1.4.12 seems to have introduced a number of error messages in the output, though none to date have been fatal. Are these perhaps debug messages?
