Feature Request: Option to unselect video stream

#1 Post by jhuebert95 » Thu Mar 20, 2014 5:06 am

It would be really nice if we could unselect the video stream. Instead of muxing everything into an mkv, we could decrypt and remux only the audio tracks into an mka file. This would be very useful for anime fans who only want to remux an english dub onto a pre-existing video file. This would save a lot of time of us! I'd love it if you'd take this into consideration in the next release :)

If you are reading the disc, then the speed would be the same. If you're opening ISO file, then again, the speed would be the same, even if you take running "mkvextract" into account.

Right, but you'd need less HDD space, especially if you wanna extract the subs only and can't use tsmuxer for some reason.

When I began ripping for my WDTV live I removed all the Lossless Audio tracks and replaced them with FLAC. Unfortunately I didn't count of the WDTV Live's inability to deal with 24 bit FLAC so was forced to go back through my Blu Ray collection and re-rip them just to get the audio so I could remux them into my original rips. My original rips were stored on an 8 drive RAID6 array, yet I was ripping to a WD Green. The remuxing process would have gone a lot quicker if the WD Green drive MKV(A)s' contained only the audio. However, it's not a big deal, and you'd still have to make sure the audio syncs with the non-existent video. The option would be nice.

You can open an MKV file in MakeMKV, select the AAC profile and just remux the MKV - you will get an MKV file with all original audio streams (FLAC) and a copy of the stream with AAC codec. It will take a minute, and this file would be playable pretty much everywhere.
