Face to Face - Fail to Open

Post by Chest Rockwell » Fri Mar 21, 2014 1:29 am

Fails to open. DVD is new and clean. Have tried three different drives. Log does not say very much. Entirety of log is:

Debug log started at Fri Mar 21 01:15:21 2014 , written by MakeMKV v1.8.9 win(x64-release)
Using 524544KB for read cache.
001005:0000 MakeMKV v1.8.9 win(x64-release) started
001004:0000 Debug logging enabled, log will be saved as C:\Users\p/MakeMKV_log.txt
003007:0000 Using direct disc access mode
003025:0000 Title #2 has length of 12 seconds which is less than minimum title length of 520 seconds and was therefore skipped
Title skip vts=3 pgcn=1 hash=D503F87F95FAF05B
001003:0020 DEBUG: Code 233 at fMQCM8tIn0EyMUOOBSmTx7eM:0
005010:0000 Failed to open disc
Application exited at Fri Mar 21 01:15:41 2014

I believe there may be a major mastering error with the disk. I am able to decrypt the disk with AnyDVD. I am then able to create an MKV using MKVtoolnix without any reported errors. However, the movie abruptly stops about two-thirds of the way through. Also, the file size for the mkv ends up being considerably less than the sum of the six VOB files that are supposed to be appended together. Appears as though the last two or three VOB's are not being appended even though MKVtoolnix does not report any errors. Thoughts?

Roll back to version 1.8.7 and give that a try. I have hit several DVD disks in the last few days that 1.8.9 has trouble with, but 1.8.7 reads just fine.

Previous versions can be found at /download/old/

Thanks for the suggestion. Using 1.8.7 worked.

This is a bug in 1.8.9 - some titles are incorrectly identified as fake. Please send IFO files for the disc that fails to open in 1.8.9 and works in 1.8.7 - /faq/item/8/catid/6
