"save selected titles" issue

Has anybody found a solution to the issue with "save selected titles" greyed out for both Bluray and DVD. I've read other posts with the same issue and I don't see a solution. I never see the title/subtitle/audio options. Backup for Bluray is all that works, but those files don't open anywhere. I'm looking to get the single MKV from selected titles, but can't get any version to work.
I'm running a Mac 10.8.5 and tried versions from 1.7.4 to 1.8.9.

Silly question, but have you clicked on the animated (when the disk is loading) icon that opens the disk?

Save to MKV does not work until MakeMKV analyzes the disk, which that button (or the menu entry File->Open disc) starts.

Thanks for the info, I gave up last night and shut down the comp. This afternoon I tried and it works from file>open disk like you suggested. I might have been the restart because yesterday it wouldn't give me these options. Also, 1.7.4 didn't work but 1.8.9 does now.
