Can't rip Bicycle Thieves - failed to save title0 to file

#1 Post by martin_z » Sat Feb 15, 2014 6:52 pm

I have tried to rip Bicycle Thieves (Arrow Classics) and I always get

Saving 1 titles into directory /mediaserver/Shared Videos/Movies
Failed to save title 0 to file /mediaserver/Shared Videos/Movies/title00.mkv
0 titles saved, 1 failed

when I click Make MKV - it happens very quickly.

I have copied the disk to a .iso and tried to rip that instead - and I get exactly the same.

Any suggestions? Any logs I can append?

This is version 1.8.8, running on Linux (Kubuntu, to be precise) and it's the first time I've ever had a complete failure from a disk using makemkv - and I've ripped about three hundred. (Fantastic piece of software - thanks!)

Please enable debug logging, and post the log here. Details on how are in the FAQ linked in my signature.

Debug logging puts out a whole lot more messages about what is going on than standard. I've just made it one of my default settings, so I don't have to make a special run when something fails. ;)

OK - log and .IFO emailed to support.

For what it's worth, here is the log file - it's pretty short!

The debug codes Mike will have to look at, but this line says a lot:
LIBMKV_TRACE: Specified conversion filter (68:A_PCM/INT/LIT->LPCMraw) is not available
This is a bug in 1.8.8 that Mike knows about. There's a topic in the General section about it, stickied so that it's easy to find.

OK. Thanks for the help.

I'll know next time what to do to try to investigate a bit more for myself before posting here.

This DVD can wait till the bug is fixed - I'll just have to watch it in the old fashioned way :)

Thanks again.

I have the same issues, since upgrading to 1.8.8.

Just to confirm that 1.8.9 fixed the problem for this disk. Thanks again.
