Strange pause, seems buffer related

Post by Woodstock »

I received a BD release of the anime MM! today, which seems to be giving MakeMKV 1.8.7 a bit of a headache. It is not logging any errors, but the episodes all take a "senior moment" at 327,680K into the write. The BD drive continues to flash activity, but output to disk stops. After some time (varies from 3 to 20 minutes), a message pops up about the program reading faster than it can write, then the rip continues at its normal 5-8x speed.

This is happening on two different Win7-64bit machines.

I originally attributed it to a error on the destination disk, but changing the output drive doesn't matter; it always pauses at 327,680K.

I changed the buffer size from "Auto" to 256MB, and it seemed to eliminate the problem on one of the machines, but the other continues to pause at the same spot in each episodes on disk 1.

Once ripped, the files play just fine, but they're taking a long time to rip. There is no unusual BD+ activity to be seen.

After the last track rips, I will bring disk 1 back to my main machine and get a testdump file for it and make it available to Mike. Other than the read-faster-than-write messages, there isn't anything out of the ordinary in the debug log. And, when I put a different BD in to rip, there is no pause during the ripping process. It's just the MM! disks.
