BluRay not ripping in the correct language.

#1 Post by brrr321 » Thu Jan 16, 2014 9:40 pm

Hi,

I seem to be having some issues ripping a bluray I own from disk to my pc. The rip is beautiful quality, however it keeps ripping in the incorrect language.

I went into preferences of makemkv and set them both to 'English' - it still continues to output in French (which isn't even the default language of the disk). Its becoming increasingly frustrating, and any advice on how to fix this would be most welcome and appreciated.

Is there a way on manually selecting the English language and disabling the others?

What are you using to play the file?

Unless you have constructed a profile that says otherwise, MakeMKV will rip the highest-quality audio track if finds for each language. The exception to this rule is HD lossless audio, which must be manually selected;a lot of players can't handle it without conversion.

Many players, though, always chose the lowest-numbered track for both audio and subtitles. If that happens to be what you want, everything is fine. But it isn't always the way disks are laid out. True, English may be the default track, but I have several players that will grab a different, lower-numbered track. When this happens, you can select English after the track starts playing, but it is inconvenient.

Since I run just about everything I rip through Handbrake, I have it rearrange the track order to suit my players. If you aren't compressing the files, though, there are tools that will let you re-order the tracks within an MKV file.
