MakeMKV 1.8.7. "Application Failed to Initialize"

I made sure to uninstall the version already on my computer before I installed 1.8.7. and that no other programs were running. Now whenever I try to run MakeMKV I get the error that "the application failed to initialize". Any idea why this is happening all of a sudden?

Not to hijack this thread, but I am also having issues with v1.8.7. I just installed the new version but yet I am getting the following error.

MakeMKV v1.8.7 win(x64-release) started
Using direct disc access mode
Evaluation period has expired, shareware functionality unavailable.
Failed to open disc

Any suggestions?

otherwise you can't rip Blu Rays with MakeMKV.

Hi,

Although I have only recently discovered MakeMKV (and obviously this Forum), I have also experienced the same error message ("the application failed to initialize") as ZodiacBeast. Following an error free install of MakeMKV 1.8.7 and a couple of excellent conversions from both DVD and VOB files, the aforementioned error message is now continually displayed following numerous "clean" re-installs.
