Will not install on Windows 8

Sorry if this has been answered but i couldnt find it.

Windows 8 will not let me install makemkv. It states something like Your computer cannot run this version. I tried d/l ing an older verison as the FAQ's suggest. Im new to Windows 8 is there anything Im missing

There are a lot of things different in Windows 8. It really, really enforces the permissions.

Since the MakeMKV installer is not signed by a trusted company, you have to make sure your permissions will allow you to install unsigned programs; Normal users often aren't allowed to install unsigned programs. If you don't see a message about needing to have administrator rights to install, the system is blocking you completely.

Once installed, it must be configured to "run as administrator", or it won't be allowed to talk to your optical drive(s) with the permissions necessary to, er, bypass the permissions.

While I myself do not use Win8, there are a lot of people here who run the 1.8.x series of MakeMKV on it, once the permissions issues are dealt with.
