Slow blueray rip

Post by nanoman06 »

I just download1.8.6 to play with alongside my shiny new ASUS BD drive. The read seems to be incredibly slow, I can't get over 2.5X which means bluerays are pretty much not copy-able.

The drive I have is this one:

Any ideas? Is the drive just bad?

I decided I would just send the drive back and get another Lite-on as I've read they usually run faster.

My laptop has a riplocked drive. I was wondering how (if possible) I could remove riplock from an HP CDDVDW TS-L633R 0400?

Putting "remove riplock hp TS-L633R" into Google as search terms does come up with some hits...

I tried that but it doesn't seem like anyones done anything with the N model.. There's some info out for the R version. For kicks I tried following those steps but it kept telling me I had the wrong drive for this.

EDIT: Ugh, my new Lite-on iHES112 3 DL04 appears to have riplock too..... It will read anywhere from 0.0 up to 6x but it bounces all over, looks like it takes an average of 37 minutes. Any tips? I couldn't find much on this model. Are all BD drives sold with locked read capabilities now? Anyone got some model #s of recently known not riplocked drives?

You could always flash your firmware.
