Hi,
I have a folder containing the files of a DVD that was made from a tv recording, maybe PVR. Converting the folder with MakeMKV produces the following dump:
...
Calculated BUP offset for VTS #1 does not match one in IFO header.
Title #1 was added (5 cell(s), 1:27:44)
Operation successfully completed

If I understand correctly, the only error is the first 149 code. While I would like to be able to convert the disk with makeMKV, my question is actually different: is there a way (for the user), e.g. in a help file, to understand from the error codes what kind of error makeMKV is detecting? Since, if the error is in the video, with a hint on the kind of error I could try to use e.g. avidemux or something similar and correct/convert the video anyway. I searched the website but didn't find anything on the meaning of debug errors.
Thanks

Re: error with home made dvd, and debug codes
This error means that the video stream is incorrect. MakeMKV usually can work around, but not this time. Please produce and submit a testdump for this title per instructions at /onlinehelp/testdump.html
Re: error with home made dvd, and debug codes
I sent the dump link by mail some days ago. In the meantime, I see that I have several DVDs, all made with the same tools, that show the same errors sequence. So I suspect that the error may be in something added while creating the DVD from the movie file, e.g. the title track, or some part of the dvd that is not the main track anyway. This makes me think at something that may be a feature request/suggestion: if there is an error in a track, does makemkv go on with the remaining tracks, or does it just stop?
Thanks
Thanks
Re: error with home made dvd, and debug codes
Hi,
I downloaded MakeMKV 1.8.6, now i get a 449 error instead of 149, but the behaviour seems to be the same. Should I send a dump, or are these files hopeless?

Re: error with home made dvd, and debug codes
Unfortunately its the latter. The problem is that the video stream is very broken - it has a lot (really) of missing frames (sometimes 3 frames per GOP). You may try making a MKV file by hand with MKVtoolnix, but you'll likely end up with an unplayable file as well.
Re: error with home made dvd, and debug codes
Ok, thank you anyway BTW, I managed to build a mkv with avidemux in "copy mode". VLC plays it, but VLC is probably very resilient to errors
Thanks again for the good job
