daspi.kext not loading on Mavericks 10.9 released version

Have been using 1.8.x for a couple of months now on Mountain Lion (recently upgraded to 1.8.5).
All worked great.
Great App.

Today, I did a fresh install of Mavericks 10.9 from App Store.
I did a fresh install on daspi 1.3 - it said it installed correctly (though it took a while).
I ran MakeMKV 1.8.5 and it said it was using Open mode (or something like that) and it recommended that I run with DASPI.
I thought I had installed DASPI.

I checked the syslog and found that it was not loaded as there's a problem with it:

I installed again but made no difference - same errors.
I restarted the OS but made no difference - same errors.
I manually tried to load the daspi.kext using kextload - same errors.

Seems like there's incompatibility between daspi.kext and 10.9 ?

Yes, this will be fixed in the next version (soon). On the other hand with a recent version of MakeMKV you really don't need DASPI installed until MakeMKV tells you to do so, and that happens rarely.

Thx for the update Mike.
The first time I ran 1.8.5 (without daspi), it took a long time to scan the disc...like 10 minutes.
That's when I started checking why it tool so long and noticed the daspi errors in the logs.

I just tried the the same disc again this morning after seeing your reply and there's no delay at all (well the usual 3-40 seconds).
I'll try another disc when this one is done.

In short - When MakeMKV tells you to do so explicitly.

Long answer - if you have a drive that can't write to any media or there are certain specific issues with drive's MMC protocol implementation. This is very rare these days.
