Every time I make MKV files from dvd's, I get keep getting a very loud spike at the very beginning of the output file. Has anyone experienced this and is there a way of stopping this?
I'm on a OS X10.7.5 using MakeMKV 1.8.5.
Audio spike at very beginning of output
Re: Audio spike at very beginning of output
And you're playing your file with what?
Re: Audio spike at very beginning of output
I play the files with XBMC v11.0 for Mac OS X
Re: Audio spike at very beginning of output
Does the issue also happen in e.g. VLC 2.1?
Re: Audio spike at very beginning of output
With VLC 2.1, I can hear a feint audio spike when I play a movie. One other interesting thing with XBMC, when I pause or resume a movie, I can hear an audio spike, not as loud as the I get when starting a movie from the beginning, but still annoyingly noticeable.
Re: Audio spike at very beginning of output
But the spike is not the same in VLC and XBMC, and you don't get a spike in VLC when doing pause/resume?
Re: Audio spike at very beginning of output
That's right, no spike in VLC when pausing or resuming.
Re: Audio spike at very beginning of output
Yet it's the same file… it's got to be a playback issue. No idea what it could be, all I know is that it isn't caused by MakeMKV.
Re: Audio spike at very beginning of output
If I leave all the titles and tracks selected the problem doesn't occur. When I only select a specific title and audio track, excluding all other titles, subtitles and foreign audio tracks, that's when the problem occurs.
Re: Audio spike at very beginning of output
When I use MakeMKV and leave all the default titles and tracks selected, the problem doesn't occur. It's only when select a specific title and audio track, excluding all other titles and foreign language audio tracks that the problem occurs. I choose this option all the time to save time and space.
