Playback of Blu-Ray movies through VLC -- free as in beer?

Am I correct that the method [^1] of decrypting Blu-Ray movies for playback via VLC (or others) is a free feature of MakeMKV and will continue to work for free, even after MakeMKV leaves beta?

If so, this is a major piece of good news.

I am working on an article about this, and MakeMKV in general, for TUAW.com. If it is not free, or if it is not known yet whether this will continue to be free after beta, I will still let people know about this, I want to make sure that I am giving people correct information and setting proper expectations.

(Unrelated to this feature I will be suggesting that people purchase a license for MakeMKV, as I have, but I know that if I do not answer the question "Will watching in VLC work even if I don't buy MakeMKV?" we will get a flood of emails about it, and possibly some of that would spill over into here as well.)

No, it's not free, same as any other blu-ray related functionality. You either have to have a key (paid key, or a free key while in beta), or you are limited to evaluation period (about 35 days). There are no additional restrictions while in evaluation mode.
