Hi everyone,
new to this forum and the software
I just ripped Avatar ISO which has 2D and 3D versions. For both files I removed some subtitles and marked both for MVC-3D.
How do I know which file is 3D? Please see the attached snip.

Both are 3D. You've copied the same file two times.

Be sure to keep the one with chapter markers and delete the other

For now, MVC in MKV is only really supported by Realtek-based devices (e.g. Mede8er) and Stereoscopic Player.

Ah, I see. I got the Popcorn Hour A-400 on the way, but it will be not good from what you say. Apparently it does play 3D iso's from local disk so maybe one day it will play 3D mkv.

I have it too. It will play MVC in MKV… in 2D. I think they (Syabas) need and/or are waiting for an updated SDK from Sigma to support it in 3D (which - AFAICT - they don't seem to care about, unlike Realtek).

One thing I haven't tried yet, is remuxing MakeMKV's output to an MPEG Transport stream… maybe that would work (not yet sure of what tools can take a raw MVC stream and mux it to MPEG-TS, TBH, so I probably won't visit this for a while).

As far as Blu-ray 3D goes, AnyDVD HD and it's built-in ISO ripper is your best bet for now (short of buying new hardware). That being said, some of the Mede8er X3D series devices may be cheaper and/or equivalent than a lifetime license for AnyDVD HD…

Disclaimer: the Mede8er X3D series reportedly supports MVC in MKV (there are some reports on this forum), but I haven't tested any so I can't vouch for them. Also, other devices based on the same chipset might be able to handle MVC in MKV too… I really have no idea.

What's pretty sure is that, unless there's been a recent development, none of the Sigma-based devices (including, but not limited to the PCH A-400) have any support for MVC in MKV yet.
