Can makemkv produce a DVDAuthor type file from DVD?

#1 Post by MikeyCarter » Thu Aug 29, 2013 9:21 pm

I know this might be a long shot.

The main thing I'm trying to solve. makemkv can pull all the files, great! But without the menus which file is episode 1 and which file is episode 4 of a series? If we could decode the menu system some how, it would make it a bit easier to see at a glance (and via script if needed)

Since makemkv is already reading the disk any way of producing a file which shows the menu structure?

Generally speaking (but not always), the episodes will be sequentially numbered titles on the disk. Renaming the files as you rip them from the default is usually enough.

Click the settings tool, go to the General tab, and enable "Expert mode". One of the things you can do with expert mode enabled is to assign new file names prior to the actual rip, which will make finding them later easier.

It helps to decide on a naming convention to keep things sorted for playback. No menu necessary!
