I am trying to rip a European DVD in Make MKV but I am getting the following error code:
Error 'Scsi error: ILLEGAL REQUEST: MEDIA REGION CODE IS MISMATCHED TO LOGICAL UNIT REGION"
The computer is a US computer.
The strange thing is:
1) I thought MKV does not care about region codes?
2) The exact same DVD rips just fine on one of my other computers.
ANY IDEAS? MUCH appreciated.
Illegal Request: Media Region Code
Re: Illegal Request: Media Region Code
I've tested the region code bypass in MakeMKV, and it has worked for me so far... But there are some DVD drives out there that won't allow the bypass to work.
One of my drives has never had the region set on it, and it works just fine with everything I've thrown at it so far. EVERY rip is an "invalid region" as far as the drive is concerned.

Re: Illegal Request: Media Region Code
There are no region codes in the Matroska specification that I am aware of.
As far as I know, as Woodstock said, some drives really do their best to enforce region codes.
