Error: "The volume key is unknown for this disc"

Post by wolrah »

I am trying to use MakeMKV on an image I just extracted using Linux on my PS3. The command used on the PS3 follows:

Code: Select all

dd if=/dev/cdrom of=/mnt/media/Unsorted/TheFugitive.iso bs=128k
This command has been listed on a number of web sites as the correct way to rip an encrypted base image with the PS3.

Whenever I try to open this image in MakeMKV, I get the following in my log window:

Code: Select all

MakeMKV v1.4.11 beta darwin(x86-release) started

Everything I've read says all the currently known AACS keys are included with the software. I have also downloaded the file needed for BD+ and told MakeMKV where to find it.

Using the latest Mac version downloaded about an hour ago on a MacbookPro4,1 running OS X 10.6.2. The movie in question is The Fugitive. I am currently running the dd step on Beerfest as well to give that one a try.

edit - Results on Windows 7 x64:

Code: Select all

MakeMKV v1.4.11 beta win(x64-release) started

You might have better feedback if you post this in the Linux sub-forum here.

I had no trouble using the Windows version of MakeMKV with "The Fugitive" BluRay (US)

1) Have you used this PS3/Linux procedure successfully before?

2) Have you tried mounting and playing the .ISO image file that you created?

3) Regarding AACS and BD+ - MakeMKV doesn't have to be directed to them (Everything is self-contained)
