Trouble with Finding Nemo

Post by David » Tue May 28, 2013 12:01 am

I thought I had MakeMKV figured out, but after having had no problems with 150+ rips I cannot get FINDING NEMO.
I have tried 2 different Blu Ray disks. Both appear pristine and unplayed. but both show the following error message...

Error 'Scsi error - MEDIUM ERROR:L-EC UNCORRECTABLE ERROR' occurred while reading '/BDMV/STREAM/00873.m2ts' at offset '11014766592'
Error 'Scsi error - MEDIUM ERROR:L-EC UNCORRECTABLE ERROR' occurred while reading '/BDMV/STREAM/00873.m2ts' at offset '11014766592'
Failed to save title 0 to file F:/Bluray/Finding Nemo (2003)/Finding_Nemo_t00.mkv
0 titles saved, 1 failed

I cleaned both disks anyway to no avail.

Any ideas?

Thanks

David

You drive is telling you it can't read the disc. This is not a MakeMKV issue, it is a hardware issue.

If cleaning the disc did not work, return it for a new one.

It is unusual that I have 2 different legitimate Disney FINDING NEMO discs that both have the same problem!! What are the odds, huh??

High.

Discs are pressed in runs at the factory. If the calibration is wrong when they start a run of discs, the whole batch will be bad.

Well, I dug out a BD player and hooked it up to my receiver, and neither disc will load, so it's definitely a disc problem!

Thanks for the advice!!!

Has anyone successfully made a MKV file of this movie?
The file size made it up to 8,781,824 KB until I get the "0 titles saved, 1 failed" error. Tried it again and made it to 12,419,072 KB.

Thanks, and I LOVE this program. This is the first and only problem I've had!

I get the same error with this disk. It is pretty strange that we are both getting an error on this movie. What kind of BD drive do you have? Mine is an LG. This is one of 3 disks I couldn't get to read out of 200 or so.

I have an Asus black BC-12B1ST. I have successfully ripped about 150 but two different copies of this movie are not ripping!!!

Hope we can get this figured out!

Well, I have tried many more times and still no luck. Has anyone successfully managed to make an mkv of this movie? Would you trade me a working copy of the mkv for the Bluray original disc?

The movie does play in my Bluray player...

Thanks,

David

There is nothing strange about it, the discs are simply poorly made.

Like buying a car - some cars are junk and the wheels fall off.

I guess I'm just surprised that this is the first and only time in all the times I've used MakeMKV where this has happened, yet the disc plays in my Panasonic Blu Ray player fine.

So far I have 3 data points...2 discs I've purchased and the one referred to by JETmn. All 3 that I know of are not being successfully copied.

I'm certainly not blaming MakeMKV, heck, I just paid $50 because I think it's great. Just trying to figure out how to get a working MKV file of this movie!!!

Swap it for another until you get one that reads 100% correctly.

As has been discussed many times on this forum, a blu ray player will skip bad sectors, you may not notice it when you watch the movie but is its surely happening. When you rip a disc skipping sectors is not an option as it will result in a corrupt file.

I had to return Monsters Inc several times before I got a copy that worked, I'm sure you'll get there too.

@David

try this:

Use makemkv to take a backup of the disc. the backup option is in the opening screen. dont check "decrypt" videos. the backup will take a long time.

once the backup is done, open up the index.bdmv within makemkv and try to see if it'll rip completely. this worked perfectly for me with a disc that gave the same errors.

How do I know which mlps to rip? I've ripped them all and each one has a different file size... I haven't watched each file from beginning to end but they all ripped with no errors.
