P90X Disk 3 won't rip

Post by jayallard » Fri Mar 29, 2013 7:13 pm

Greetings

I found a post from 2011 stating the same problem. My problem is with disk #3. One and two worked ok, and I haven't tried the others.
The disk plays fine in all players, and I've tried ripping it from 2 computers. Both report the same issue.

It gets to the end of the disk, then reports "1 titles saved, 1 failed". The failed one is the one I need. The other one is small, just 138.8 megs, so just a promo or something.

MakeMKV v1.8.0 win(x64-release) started
Using direct disc access mode
Title #0 was added (58 cell(s), 1:18:13)
Title #1 has length of 88 seconds which is less than minimum title length of 120 seconds and was therefore skipped
Title #3 has length of 13 seconds which is less than minimum title length of 120 seconds and was therefore skipped
Cells 4-end were skipped due to cell commands (structure protection?)
Title #5 was added (2 cell(s), 0:03:56)
Title #6 has length of 5 seconds which is less than minimum title length of 120 seconds and was therefore skipped
Operation successfully completed
Saving 2 titles into directory F:/Video/_UNDEFINED_99E0
Failed to save title 0 to file F:/Video/_UNDEFINED_99E0/title00.mkv
1 titles saved, 1 failed

Where do I get the debug information that you need? What should I provide?

Thank you

Hi!

If it's the set I'm thinking of, I seem to remember having read about that set of workout discs several times over the years - and something comes to mind about intentional miniscule physical damage that although playable on standalones causes the disc to be uncopyable/unplayable on computers...

I can play it on multiple computers, it's just been a rip problem. Someone had the problem with this set in 2011, and it was fixed at the time. (I think it was version 1.6)

There are 12 disks.
So far: good = 1,2,4,5,6. Bad = 3,7.

Should I send the information on the other bad disks as I come across them, or wait to hear back from the first?

This is a bug in MakeMKV. I have to ask you to make and send a testdump for titles that fail (if there are too many, then at least couple dumps). Instructions - /onlinehelp/testdump.html

I just sent a dropbox share containing the disk 3 dumps.

Incase anyone is interested, this continues to fail in 1.8.3. One difference is that now it fails pretty quickly. It used to go through the entire disk before reporting an error.

Interesting. Can you enable expert mode, navigate to the title that fails, expand "chapters" subtree and post the screenshot? There ought to be some problem with chapters.

Except for 38, 39 and 58 (which shows 0), every chapter is longer than the previous.
