Hi,
I notice that the file sizes are very large, especially for Blu-Ray films.
I have about 500 dvds and blu-rays that I want to rip with MakeMkv
Does anyone have any advice or tips on how I go about storing these files?
I am thinking that the best thing would be to buy say some Western Digital external hard drives (3 or 4TB).
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Many thanks.

I built my own NAS running unRAID. It allows you to mix-n-match drives of different sizes and manufacturers. It also allows you to expand your storage without completely recreating the array. It works good for storing movies since files are not striped across disks, so when you're streaming a movie to your playback device, unRAID will spin up on the one drive containing the movie, which reduces power consumption compared to a typical NAS that needs all the disks spun up. Writes are a little slow and reads are only as fast as a single drive. Also, the free version is limited to just 3 drives (1 parity and 2 data).
