Life of Pi

Post by barrygordon » Mon Mar 11, 2013 7:19 pm

I just received a copy of Life of PI. This is the firs BD that makeMKV has been unable to convert for me!!!
Do you have any idea when this will be available?
If there is something I neeed to do please let me know.
If there is something I need to download please let me know

I just noticed the dump file. Each time I tried to upload it it failed. It is 27 Meg. The upload started, progress at bottom plus progress window. when bottom progress sad 100% progress window disappeared and the submission was erased before I could submit it.

Sorry (Browser=chrome)

Thanks

You aren't going to be able to upload 27MB as an attachment here, and most mail services won't allow you to email it.

HOWEVER, there are services like "dropbox" (several free ones), where you can upload the file, and provide Mike with a link, using the instructions on the SVQ page linked to in the log.

Sorry But I can not find any links to an svq or any instructions. I did pull out a text file from the dump that was titled log.txt.

It is here:

I am more than willing to upload and send the entire dump file, but to where?

The link (which Mike has also sent you) is embedded in the log, right after where MakeMKV told you that it created the dump file:
barrygordon wrote:003332:0000 Saved BD+ dump file as C:\Users\barry/.MakeMKV/dump_Life_of_Pi_2180D52A61A509C1.tgz
003321:0000 Failed to process BD+ code, please check http://www.makemkv.com/svq/ for updated program and SVQ files
Unfortunately, the wording could be a bit better, to emphasize that the instructions for submitting the dump file are also on the page...

Okay I just sent the tgz file using sendspace.com. the link to the file is

You should be getting an email at svq@makemkv.com with a link to the file. If that does not work let me know.

How will I know when the issue is resolved?

MakeMKV will be able to open the disc.

Just make sure your machine has an active internet connection and you ticked the box allowing it to access the server.
Home Theater PC: Assassin HTPC, XBMCbuntu 12.0 (Frodo), Intel i5 3570k 3.4 GHz Ivy Bridge w/ HD 4000, LG BD-ROM
Playback Devices: Mede8er MED600X3D, MyGica EnjoyTV 120, Xtreamer SideWinder 3, Crystal Acoustics MediaMatchBox

I was able to resolve the issue (I think). I had anydvd in the machine so I started it first and then started makeMKV. The process completed normally and ripped the disk. I opened about 1 minute in my theater and started correctly so the Pressure is off.

I presume what I sent will assist you in improving MakeMKV which I think is a fantastic product. I started in the digital field in 1960 so I really do know what makes a good/great product, and MakeMKV is great.

I just finished watching the Life of Pi. The rip was perfect no artifacts or issue, just good clean audio and video.

My granddaughter is visiting and we watched Argo and Life of Pi. She asked how do I know if a movie is good? I told her there is a simple rule: If it is nominated for the Best Picture Oscar it is good! In fact that rule extends to best direction, and in most cases best actor, best actress. Just my opinion!

Out of curiosity, where is the location of the SVQ files on the Mac if I ever need to download and install manually?

Thanks

In the Windows version, the SVQ directory is set in the General tab of Preferences, same place you enable/disable things like debugging and expert mode.

On my Mac, they are automatically stored the "MakeMKV data directory" I specified in the MakeMKV preferences window under the "General" tab. I assume the setting for people who do not change this location would be the "Movies" default folder.
