No Disc

Post by Embleton »

Hi All,
Ive been using Make MKV for a little while now, and had no problems till around 2 weeks ago when I loaded a disc and it wouldn't copy it over. I noticed there was a new version available and downloaded it. Having installed it now when I try and load a disc the logo spins up to show its reading the disc, then it simply stops and says No Disc Inserted. Ive tried it with a few new blu rays and nothing. ive also tried removing and reinstalling it and still nothing. Any help or ideas would be good.

Cheers Chris.

You are using Mac, right? It appears to be a bug in 1.8.0 The workaround is to quit MakeMKV, insert the disc, wait for the disc to be recognized, and then start MakeMKV.
Please, if you ever hit this bug again, save the full log file. The full log file is the log file written by MakeMKV as opposed to log messages in lower pane. So, if you see disc not recognized (or recognized as data), do nothing else, quit MakeMKV, and send the file named MakeMKV_log.txt to support@makemkv.com - this file should be in your home directory. This file will be overwritten next time you launch MakeMKV, so please be careful not to loose this file.

Hi Mike,
I'm using it on a windows machine, and having tried it on my GFs laptop and on the server, where the problem first arose, I get the same outcome.

Does this change things? I'll send you the log o er when I get home later this week.

Cheers Chris.

Hi Mike,
I've just installed all of the bluray drive firmware onto my laptop, and still get exactly the same outcome. I did discover however that the software worked with the digital copy disc, but not the bluray. Where do I have to look to find this log?

Cheers Chris.

Ps I've tried inserting the disc, and although the drive recognises a disc is present, it simply won't load. Is this likely to be an issue with the software or the drive itself?

This does look like a drive problem.
