MakeMKV broken on Windows 8.

I run MakeMKV as administrator AND in compatibility mode for win7, I go to the preferences > advanced tab, click on my conversion profile, click apply, it crashes and the choice wasn't saved. wtf.

That will also happen at times in Win7; the directory that is created during the install is sometimes tagged as NOT allowing writes by even an admin-level user.

You can change those properties as an admin, by right-clicking on MakeMKV's directory in Explorer, and selecting "Properties", then the "Security" tab. Make sure that the administrators group is allowed full access, and that you're in the administrator group.

Could I just take ownership of the folder? the %programfiles%\MakeMKV\ folder right?

Yes, taking ownership of the directory is one way, but you can also add yourself as having "full control" to the directory, which is probably the best way. The installer can then still take control as needed, and you can edit as you please.
