Stargate SG1 Issues

Post by SiriusB »

1st off, excellent program - thanks.

Have been using MKV for a few months now & did not experience any issues until now. I have all 10 seasons of Stargate SG-1 provided by de'agostini the publishers.

Seasons 1 to 8 went smoothly, however on all of season's 9 disk's I get this.....

MakeMKV v1.7.10 win(x86-release) started
Opening files on harddrive at S:/TV Series/Stargate SG-1/Season 9/VIDEO_TS
Calculated BUP offset for VTS #1 does not match one in IFO header.
CellWalk algorithm failed (structure protection is too tough?), trying CellTrim algorithm
CellTrim algorithm failed since title has only 4 chapters
Title #1 (0:42:03) was skipped due to navigation error

Failed to open disc

As you can see from this....http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff93 ... f54910.jpg

Seasons 1-8 & 10 are not a problem. They are all 4 chapters per title as are season 9.

At first, I thought it could be an issue with DVDFab, so retried with DVDShrink - same issue experienced.

I use XBMC & would like to see this TV show completed, so advice would be most welcome.

Unless this is a new or non-US release, season 9 should rip just fine with MakeMKV after 1.7.4 or so. Do you get the same problem when ripping from the DVDs themselves, rather than a pre-ripped version of it?

That's what I like about I.T. - You learn something new every day. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you guys, being a local system builder has it's up's & down's & it's been mainly up's atm, not that I'm complaining lol.

@Mike, thanks will do - will try with S9 at the weekend. I take it that by doing as you stated, it helps towards making MKV better? I only ask as I have a very large film/TV Show collection & atm when time permits, adding it to my Sharecenter - so far ripped 450 films & 60 complete series with 15 films to date that have not been able to convert - on sharecenter but as vob files which XBMC can read.

@Woodstock, thanks I wasn't aware that one could use mkv to rip directly - this will save some time & I will do some extensive testing.

Reading through the forum, I see that many of the issues are down to the conditions of the disk itself. Fortunately, I still use my old trick of preserving by making copies & keeping the originals safe like Vinyl albums & singles in the old days.

However, that still does not give 100% surety as I have one series - Danger UXB - it has ripped ok with the exception of disk 1 which has 3 episodes with 1 & 3 ripped ok, but 2 splits into two parts. Using MKV directly still produces that effect. The disks themselves have only been viewed the once & only used since when I installed MakeMKV. Cannot see any scratches or marks on the disks.

Again on reading through the forum, I downloaded mkvmerge which seemed to work but on playing back it still stopped at 30min leaving the 2nd part of 29 min unplayed (going to try to mege them through Roxio's software).

Edit: I've also updated to 1.8.0. It seems to me that it reads file faster... Nice job.
