Ability to embed DVD/BD cover

Ability to embed DVD/BD cover would be a very useful feature. Any chance of its inclusion in the next releases?

It could be a option. The specification are ready:

only to save 2 pictures with 2 resolutions.

To get they could have a field to save the pictures, or better, ask about the imdb-Key and download the cover with the metadata.

For Blu-Rays, could you make it an option to create an external .jpg with the same name as the movie name? (I have a program that needs external cover art)

You can copy it yourself from /BDMV/META/DL directory on the disc.
