First go at MakeMKV...

Post by HDNewbie »

Morning Folks,
Im completely new to MakeMKV, so please treat me really gently.

Ive ripped aa Blu-Ray to my network drive (usine AnyDVD HD)

I now want to shrink the flle, dont want menus or any extras just the movie.

Ive run MakeMkv, select OpenFile and Ive tried selecting both the index.ddmv and movieobject.bdmv inside the bdmv folder of the ripped drive (in different attempts).

MakeMKV then starts the process the disk. Which I stopped at half an hour because I was expecting to be able to select content as per the "Select Content" section of the Online help.

Im sorry, I know this is really basic, but am I selecting the right files to begin the process of choosing content or am I being too impatient. If so what time scale am I looking at to get the select content phase ?

Ive tried it on both an XP and a Windows 7 PC.

Cheers

Well... its now been running for 4hrs
Processing titles elapased time:4:01:56 / Remaining 1:28:39:54 (and rising)
(first green notch on progress bar and hasnt moved)
Opening Blu-ray disk
about 25% along progress bar

Does this not work from a hard drive rip ?

Use MakeMKV on the original disk; it does not need to have something ripped by another program. I have NEVER had it take that long ripping a BD directly from the BD, unless the disk was damaged. And it would normal let you know that a long time before that.

That said, you MAY be able to get what you want from the existing ISO by processing with Handbrake. It will let you select the decoded title, and recode it into an MP4 file of smaller size.

The Blu-Ray Im trying to convert is MegaMind, any known problems with that ?

CHeers for the reply.

Some where in the preferences there should be an option to turn on the debugging.

Enable the debugging and then post what comes up in the window for MakeMKV.
