Does Lossless Audio remain Lossless after ripping/back-up?

MKV playback, recompression, remuxing, codec packs, players, howtos, etc.

Does Lossless Audio remain Lossless after ripping/back-up?

Post by Jay192 » Wed Jan 16, 2013 10:57 pm

Does lossless audio remain lossless audio after ripping or backing-up for the respective lossless audio tracks (i.e. LPCM, Dolby True HD and DTS-HD MA)?

I assume it doesn't matter if you rip the individual file of whole disc - correct?

It seems to remain lossless(24/96 remains 26/96) from what I see via MediaInfo but I had read elsewhere that MKV only copied the core (lossy) audio - perhaps this historic info - hence my questions to confirm now.

thanks!
