How in the world do I BUY MakeMKV???
So my trial ran out, and I want to buy it. How in Gods name do i do that??? Do they not want my money?
Ok, so I had to actually do a google search to find the site where you can pay the $50 to get a reg code. Seriously? Am I blind or are these guys not interested in making money?

You're joking I gather since it's in your signature. But if you go anywhere on the makmkv site itself there's no link to be found to buy/donate. I just find it odd.Smithcraft wrote:What did you do? What website did you use?

You are quite correct that Mike needs to update the main website to have a "buy it now" button SOMEWHERE obvious.
But there is a link to it - Go to the Announcements section, and look at the "MakeMKV is free while in beta" topic. In the first paragraph, "You many purchase ..." is the link.
That topic is where people go when the current beta key expires, to get a new one (unless a new version has been released), so they would see it when they're most vulnerable to the idea of buying it...

Wow, yeah that's incredibly buried. Thanks for the tip.Woodstock wrote:You are quite correct that Mike needs to update the main website to have a "buy it now" button SOMEWHERE obvious.

While we're on this topic - can I just suggest that ?50 (that's pounds, approx. $80) for the makemkv application is a little heavy IMO - I *know* it's beta at the moment, but I would like to support it, but for the amount I use it I think 50 quid is way too much - I'd consider paying about half that, in dollars we're looking at $30 or $40.

I think he was making the point that if the admin doesnt make the "buy" page more obvious then we cant help him by buying the product.
as for the cost, i kinda have to agree its a bit steep
IF this was released etc etc i think i`d be more willing but as its in beta i think some kind of 20 quid beta usage fee would work with upgrade needed when the product was released. (beta payers could just make up the difference when they upgrade?)
or simply a donate button as it is difficult to stump up 50quid for something which people are easily, and the admin is helping them to, use for free.
just my thoughts,
amazing program tho. still cheaper than the fox thingy (cant remember name but its 80quid!)

Re: How in the world do I BUY MakeMKV???
People have complained about the price before. It remains unchanged. People are always going to have an opinion about what someone else's work is worth. The author decided this is the price he feels its worth. Many agree, others don't. In the end, it's his prerogative to set the price he wants. And it's up to the individual user to decide if the program provides enough value to spend the equivalent of 2 or 3 movies to buy it. For me, and many others, the answer is a resounding yes. If it's not enough value for you, then you have the option of not buying it.

Re: How in the world do I BUY MakeMKV???
thats all well and good but when he offers it free on a post on the website it is a little galling to then ask 50 quid isnt it?
AND its in beta!
I stand by my previous suggestion that a beta cut down price with an upgrade when and if it goes live.
as it stands no i wont pay 50quid for an unreleased product that everyone can get for free. sorry but it doesnt make any sense.

Well my last comment was rejected so apparently I have to be nicer. How is it you tried to help me? And how is it *I* was the smart ass? I think if you look at the 2nd post you'll see you got that backwards. You simply asked a question "What website did you go to buy it from?" (not helpful, but a smartass response as obviously you know the answer to that question looking at your signature). So, nice try on spinning this, and good luck not being a disgruntled a$$.Smithcraft wrote:No, my point is that daveydave5150 wants our help.

Clearly you have no concept of what goes into developing software if you feel that just because he's generous and allows people to use it while he's still adding features to it (the beta nature of the software) it has no value. As a software developer myself I find that attitude quite astonishing, personally. You're basically saying that because he provides it for free while he's working on making it feature complete he deserves no compensation for his time and effort and that there is zero value in using the software. That is your opinion and you're entitled to it. I definitely don't share it and feel that the 50 quid is a very small price to pay for the work he's done and continues to do. I for one find a ton of value in using this software.
If you don't want to pay for it, then you can continue to use it for free as long as it's in beta. You will have to live with the limitations that come with that such as the beta key and software expiring every so often. As a licensed user, I don't have to deal with that nonsense.

Re: How in the world do I BUY MakeMKV???
@daveydave5150, @mike admin
Hi!
Now that you've determined how (and at what price) to purchase it, you simply have to decide if you
WANT to purchase it.
There is no negotiating, so forget all of the other blather in this thread. Replace the word "beta" with "finished but continually updated" (like virtually every other software product that's available for sale). There is NOTHING that makes this an unfinished product. (Mike, are you reading this? )
Works with Windows, MAC, LINUX (No similar program works with ALL of these OSs!)
The price is the price and the terms are the terms. So simply decide if you want to purchase it now or not...
