multipe titles, which is best?

Post by russds »

Hi all, newbie question here. I started ripping BR disks, and noticed a lot of them have multiple titles listed that look almost identical but with slight differences in size. How do I know which one is best and what's usually the difference? Thanks!

You can check the BD Info database. If it's a new release, it might not be listed yet, so check the last couple of pages in the thread.

Thanks. Is that the BD database link you have in your signature, or something else? Thanks!

I looked over the site in your signature with BD Info. It's very helpful. Just curious though, for example Toy Story 3 has 3 main title tracks:
1. English Render 800.mpls, duration: 1:42:33
2. French Render 801.mpls, duration: 1:43:03
3. Spanish Render 802.mpls, duration: 1:43:03

Is there a way to tell on that website what the difference is? Why the french and spanish renders are slightly longer? Just wondering if they have a missing scene, or some subtlety that's not in the English Render.

Thanks!

The difference for the Toy Story movies is that some stuff is different in the foreign releases, or are 'deemed' not appropriate for different audiences.

You can look at the playlists reported and see what is different. In this case I see that 484.m2ts is added to the French render, and that 389.m2ts is added to the Spanish render. Both come before the final track, so I would venture to guess that they are localized credits. There are other differences, but I'll leave it to you to suss them out.

As suggested by setarip_old, you can back it up, and compare each M2TS file to see what is different.
