I have 3 Blue-ray readers over 2 different computers.
Lite-on HBS112 - reads BD very well - Does not do regular dvd as well as my non-bd dvd drive. This is also slow.
LG UH12Ls28 - This drive will generally back up blue ray disc when the Lite-on errors out.
Lite-on ihes 112 - Similar to HBS112 - Sync errors when backing up blue-rays.
My two cents.
If any of you have comments on some great drives I am looking to upgrade.

Re: What is the best buleray drives out there?
I've been pretty happy with the LG WH14NS40 I bought a week or so ago. It's currently ripping a BD at 6.3x speed, which is better than the older LG UH08LS10 ever did. Both are reliable, but the new one is twice as fast!

I'll also recommend the LG WH14NS40. I've had it for a few months and it works fine with MakeMKV, and it is fast. It also does not come with rip-lock, and so does not need to have firmware flashed to remove rip-lock (as several older LG models do require).
